Jun17

Julia Lukacher Photography

Celebrity Hairstylist Cesar Ramirez is the mastermind behind the many hairstyles that you've seen in editiorials, ad campaigns and red carpets.  Most notably he's hooked up Model/R&B singer Cassie with her shaved side and blonde highlights.  I had the opportunity to chat with Cesar to find out what was the inspiration behind Cassie's dramatic look and how you too can have faboulous hair.

More after the jump

EJae: How long have you been styling hair?
Cesar: 11 years

EJae: When did you start working with celebrities and what was your first gig?
Cesar: The first salon I worked in had celebrity clients so I had exposure at an early time in my career but Elizabeth Berkeley booked me for my first freelance gig.

EJae: Cassie's hair has always been fab. Her darker hair gave her such an exotic look, yet the lighter hair and shaved side gave her a bit of an edge. What was the inspiration behind the transformation?

Cesar: As a recording artist you are always evolving and as long as I've known Cassie she has always had an edgy side. Its obvious she is exotic but her new style brough out that edge that few of us had experienced.

EJae: What are the latest trends in hairstyles/haircolor?
Cesar: Hair is influenced by style. Natural-retro is in right now and solid rich colors are what people are going for these days.

EJae: Any tips on taking care of chemically and color treated hair?
Cesar: Conditioning treatments are a must (at aleast once a week) and always consult your personal stylist on hair care products to maintain it healthy.

EJae: Being that Fashionistaz Life does focus on fashion too, I couldn't go without asking who are your favorite designers and what would you consider your style to be?
Cesar: My favorites designer are Buckler and J. Lindeberg and I consider my style be clean edgy urban

EJae: Any advice for budding hairstylists who want to work with celebrites?
Cesar: Have no fear and be ambitious. Study history, today's fashion and future trends.
