For M.I.A.'s upcoming album cover artwork, she uses YouTube pop-ups as her artwork. The title of the album is pronounced "Maya" as in her first name. She will perform some of her new material at the HARD Summer Music fesitval in L.A. on July 17 and New York July 24.
M.I.A. has been off the scene for a minute since giving birth. She's back with a few new projects. She will be shooting an editorial for Vogue magazine. The Sri Lankan beauty is giving all types of fashion-kick-ass-ness in this shot with her gold spiked rings and bangles.
Musically, she's preparing for an early spring release of her third album. In an recent interview she did with NNE.com, she tells them that her upcoming project will be "really odd" and "more musical" than her previous work.
M.I.A. also says about the upcoming album:
"I wanted it to be like, no gimmicks," she declared. "It’s my third album and I have to kind of confront whether I am a musician or not… I wanted to make something that you could play that isn’t like trendy just for three months, or the length of a DJ’s attention span."

M.I.A. has been nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Original Song for “O Saya,” her collaboration with composer A.R. Rahman featured on the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. The Sri Lankan born artist received a Record of the Year Grammy nod for her hit “Paper Planes” in December. M.I.A. is also pregnant and due next month. Congrats all around to her.
