Hip-hop has been an instrumental part of my career. As a kid, I always wanted the two-finger ring, boom-box and go to the parties. Unfortunately, I was too young and didn't get a chance to experience it. I had a dope conversation last night about hip-hop. I was schooled and inspired. If I wasn't as passionate as I am about the fashion industry, music would've been my first choice. Here are a few photos (some personal and found on the web) that are an inspiration to me.
This week has been a pretty inspiring. As I featured here and here. To end the week on a positive note, I wanted to feature some items that were inspired by Run-D.M.C. They are legends in Hip-Hop music and their style has been pretty evident in the past and the present. This shirt I wore here was my paying homage to them. Here are a few items that you fellas ( and ladies too. I'd definitely rock the watch and hoodie) can get your hands on that says I love Hip-Hop.
Paper Mag has recently compiled their list of the 25 most stylish singers. With categories from the Flower Child to the Hot Mess, this feature is worth checking out. Since I am a child of the Ol' Skool, I am posting Paper Mag's choices for Ol' Skool songbirds (which are right on point) and their inspiration:
From left to right: Kid Sister; Katy Perry; MIA; Santogold; and Yelle. Inspiration: Salt N Pepa
