This year was definitely the Year Of The Gentleman. Alot of artists decided to put away the casual gear for a more sexier and grown up look. Artists like Ne-Yo; Chris Brown and Jay-Z decided to pick up a (bow) tie and blazer a time or two. Fellas, here are a few pieces to achieve and preserve (in my P. Diddy voice) your sexy.
Ne-Yo was onstage during a concert in Manchester, UK and performed about an hour. After the Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter performed a rendition of Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall" when he bacame very emotional and began crying. He abruptly ended the show by telling the crowd he had to leave due to illness and he promised the crowd "I will be back".
It's pretty evident that Ne-Yo's "illness" was just his emotions getting the best of him and he was feeling the sorrow of Michael Jackson's death. Be strong Ne-Yo, I know you will be back.
Hello Fashionistaz! Happy New Year! I hope everyone brought it in safe and well. Today it's back to business. On today's MenStyle Monday the focus will be on celebs whose choices in fashion made us talk in 2008. Let's proceed:
Who could forget this getup. With the release of his album 808's & Heartbreak, Kanye had a new sound (autotune driven songs) and a new look to boot. Can we say Pee Wee's Playhouse.
Ne-Yo gets grown and very sexy. His album Year of the Gentleman brought out more sensual hits and his wardbrobe was just as smooth. Loves it!
2008 was cutie Chris Brown's year. A great album, Exclusive, with record sales through the roof and allegedly (LOL) dating Rihanna. He finally came into his own with his style. It was pretty evident during this performance at the Today show in NYC that Michael Jackson has a big influence on his choreography and style.
German teddybear maker Steiff teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld to develop a teddy with his likeness. It retailed for $1500. Seriously, someone needed to insert a decimal in between the 5 and 0.
Lastly, Auto-tune extroadinaire T-Pain transforms from jeans and tims to circus ring leader. This may not be stylish is the mainstream sense, but I give him props for the reinvention. Only HE could pull off this look.
Now that we have recaped what these celebs have done with their style, I cannot wait to see what they have in store for 2009.
What's the best way to re-emerge back on to the music scene after an extensive hiatus? Link up with Ne-Yo. That's what New Kids On The Block aka NKOTB did on the their new single entitled "Single". Good job fellas.
Ne-Yo has been a consistent talent. He shells out hit after hit and it makes you wonder what's next. With the release of "Year of the Gentleman", Ne-Yo's ode to the gentleman. The tracks have a more grown up appeal with out coming off too contemporary. Here's what Ne-Yo recently had to say
Being in the music industry: “One of the perks to being in this business is that I meet beautiful women all day long, seven days a week, 24 hours a day—they’re always around,” he says. “So the one that’s going to get me to settle down is going to have to be real, real bad. I’m talking mentally, physically, spiritually.”
Having swagger and style: “You can be a gentleman in jeans and a T-shirt, but it’s about the way you wear it,” he says. “It’s about your charisma, your charm and your swag. That makes you a gentleman, not your clothes.”
